Xiaomi Mi A3 unveiled with 720p+ OLED screen, S665 chipset, €250 price tag 


The stock Android-running Xiaomi Mi A3 is official, but it’s not what we were hoping for – it’s based on the Mi CC9e with no upgrades.
This means the Android One phone has a 6.1” OLED screen with 720 x 1,560px resolution, quite a downgrade from the 1080p screens of the Mi A2and Mi A2 Lite.
Wait till you hear the price – it starts at €250. The Snapdragon 665 chipset that powers this phone is not a huge upgrade over the S660 in last year’s model. That’s for 64GB storage, you can double it to 128GB for €30 more. At least there’s a microSD slot so you can add more storage later.
The one major upgrade on the Xiaomi Mi A3 is the camera. It features a 48MP main shooter on the back with a reasonably bright f/1.78 aperture (there’s no OIS). Next up is the 8MP ultra wide-angle camera (118°) and, finally, the 2MP depth sensor.
The rear camera can record 2160p video at 30fps or 1080p at up to 120fps. Then there’s the selfie camera inside the notch, which has a 32MP (it shoots 1080p/30 video).
Another upgrade over last year’s model is the battery – 4,030mAh, up from 3,000mAh. Charging speeds up to 18W are supported (same as last year), but you'll have to provide your own charger as there's only a 10W power brick in the box.
There's more good news - the 3.5mm headphone jack is back. Also, the fingerprint reader has been relocated under the display, following current trends.
Xiaomi is launching the Mi A3 in three colors: Blue, White and Gray. This phone will be available in Spain first - you can pre-order it now, units will ship on July 24. The rest of the world will be getting it shortly.
If there’s a Mi A3 Pro based on the higher-end Mi CC9 out there, we haven’t heard a peep about it yet.

The entry-level smartphone is now also available through offline retail channels, but there is a catch. Buying the device from a physical store instead of online will command an INR 200 price premium. So while the base model with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage costs INR 5,999 online, to buy this one from a brick-and-mortar store you'll pay INR 6,199. Similarly, the version with 32GB of storage is priced at INR 6,199 online, and INR 6,399 offline. So you'll be eating some of the costs of having it distributed to myriad stores across the subcontinent, but you do get the added convenience of just walking into a store and immediately leaving with the phone in hand, without the need to wait for shipping. Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) appears on Amazon, to arrive on August 1

We’ve been hearing about the Huawei Y9 Prime (2019)  arriving in India  for the past few weeks, but we finally have confirmation. The device was listed on Amazon with its key specs and the launch date. The Y9 Prime (2019) is arriving on August 1 with an elevating selfie camera and three shooters on the back. The screen is 6.59” in diagonal, but it is likely an LCD since the fingerprint scanner is on the back. It has no notches, just a tiny bezel on the bottom because the selfie camera is in a pop-up mechanism. Huawei is officially shipping the Y9 Prime (2019) with Kirin 710 and 4 GB RAM, but at least it has 128 gigs of storage. The selfie shooter has a 16 Mp sensor and brings plenty of AI features, including “real-time image optimising in 8 scenes”. Stable EMUI 9.1 hits 10 Huawei and Honor smartphones

Huawei has started testing EMUI 9.1  back in April and a tally of 10 phones is now ready to switch to the Stable version. The company announced on Weibo that seven Huawei smartphones and three Honor devices will get it. The new user interface is still based on Android Pie and brings software improvements, bug fixes and GPU Turbo 3.0. That feature boosts the performance of the graphics unit to provide better gaming on the expense of the battery life. It also comes with  EROFS (Extendable Read-Only File System)  that should increase read speed by 20% and save about 2 GB of system storage. Here’s the full list of devices.
